CFOP stands for:

C: Cross
F: First Two Layers (F2L)
O: Orientation of the Last Layer (OLL)
P: Permutation if the Last Layer (PLL)

Why CFOP?

It is the most popular speed-solving method.
There are way more online resources to help you master this method.
Because of how similar it is to the beginner's method, it is eaier for beginners to start using CFOP.
CFOP algorithms can be easily applied to bigger cubes such as Megaminx, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, etc.
